Special Announcement 7/1/22
In response to the leaked draft decision of the United States Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, Stardust worked to ensure our users’ data was fully protected. We immediately began building new processes and functionalities to keep our users’ data secure by implementing open-source encryption. We had hoped to have these processes and functionalities in place and our policies updated to reflect these changes in advance of the decision. However, when the Supreme Court released its decision on June 24, officially overturning Roe v. Wade, we raced to finalize the update and we are proud to say that we have begun to slowly roll it out to users. Below is some more information about our update and about our service at large, particularly since there has been some misinformation shared about it lately.
We take privacy extremely seriously. We have never given any information to government agencies nor would we do so without a lawful government order. With the addition of encryption to Stardust via our recent update, we now have no ability to associate our users’ cycle tracking data to an individual user’s name, IP address or any other form of personally identifiable information. The only people that have access to the information are the users who have entered it, not even we as the app have the ability to access it. This means that even if Stardust was served with a lawful government order to share information about a user, with our new update, we wouldn’t have any information to share.
We have never sold any user data and never will. This is our ongoing policy and our commitment to our users forever.
Over the last few weeks we have also re-designed our systems to restrict the access to any data we and our third-party analytics platform had about Stardust users. We had previously engaged this platform to get baseline information about our app, such as how many users we had. With our new update, no other company (including the analytics platform) can get any information about any Stardust individual users.
Our old privacy policy (as of March 17th) reflected the previous version of our app. We have recently updated it to reflect our latest update and its capabilities.
We want every person to be able to use our product with peace of mind and know that no one else, except you, will have access to the highly personal information you put into it. We have always wanted to work towards this goal and believe that it matters even more now given the Supreme Court’s recent decision. The data provided to us is incredibly personal, and that’s something we don’t take lightly. Thank you for trusting us to protect your private information.

Sincerely,
Rachel, Molly and Sinem
